The Court of Protection is there to help protect people who don’t have the mental capacity to make important decisions regarding their finances and/or their welfare. We can prepare and submit the application to the Court of Protection for you to become that person’s deputy.
COURT OF PROTECTION DUTIES
A Court of Protection is responsible for the following:

Ensuring that someone does not have the mental ability to make important decisions relating to their finances and/or their welfare

Appoint someone to make those decisions on their behalf

Consider applications regarding a lasting or enduring power of attorney

Decide whether someone should be deprived of liberty under the Mental Capacity Act

Make a decision urgently and without delay in emergencies
Applying to the court of protection
You can apply to the Court of Protection to enable you to help someone who doesn’t have the capacity to make important decisions about their finances or welfare. Check first whether the person doesn’t already have someone with the power of attorney. The Court of Protection can help with issues that are non-urgent, as well as urgent situations where the person could be in danger. You can apply for help with one-off decisions and those that affect them long-term.
